Hello! We are two of the students from Redruth School on our work experience. We have put together these top picks for your entertainment for the upcoming summer weeks. From film clubs to theatre, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Have fun!
1. Family Fun Disco!
When? Fri 13th July, 2018 5:30 – 9:30 pm
Where? St Tudy Playing Fields, Bodmin
To celebrate the St Tudy Playing Fields Equipment Refurbishment, St Tudy Carnival are holding a family friendly disco, with hot food and a cash bar. The event will take place in the Carnival marquee on St Tudy Playing Field (opposite St Tudy Primary School). Everyone welcome!
2. Oliver!
When? Friday 13th July 2018 – 7:30pm
Where? Sterts Theatre, Liskeard
Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart’s classic musical based on Charles Dickens’ novel. the Tony and Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience alike.
3. Bard Heads: Finding The Will
When? Sat 14th July – 7:30pm
Where? Amphitheatre at Trebah, Falmouth
Your chance to experience a night inspired by Shakespeare and Alan Bennett on the private terrace at Trebah House. Created from characters in Macbeth and Twelfth Night. All tickets include a glass of bubbles on arrival!
4. Fearsome Feasts
When? Friday 20th July 2018 – 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Where? Newquay Zoo
A unique out of hours guided tour with our keepers to meet the animals they look after, with a Q&A session and some hot food.
Explore the zoo at your own pace and listen to interactive talks from the experts. A one off event for all ages to learn about the animals you love, including their characteristics, what they eat and much more.
You will also be treated to a hot meal through the evening all included within your ticket.
5. Miracle Theatre: The Cherry Orchard
When? Friday 20th July 2018, 7:30pm
Where? Healey’s Cyder Farm, Truro
This summer, Miracle unpacks Chekhov’s bittersweet comedy about a once-wealthy family, whose idleness and extravagance have brought them to the brink of bankruptcy.
Obstinate and self-absorbed, they are deaf to the rumblings of change which surrounds them, and unable to accept help when they need it.
Audiences of all ages can enjoy the full ‘open air theatre experience’, by bringing along cushions and blankets along with a well-stocked picnic or sample the delicious food and drinks provided onsite. Prepare for all weathers and arrive early for a special night of theatre performed under the stars!
6. Townshend Film Club
When? Sat 21st July, 2018 Doors 7pm
Where? Townshend Village Hall, Hayle
Townshend film club is part of the C Fylm network, Cornwall’s network of community film clubs. When you come to your first C Fylm screening, you will be asked to pay £6 for a C Fylm membership, and get your first film for free! Once you become a member you will be able to buy members tickets at any film club across the network.
7. Quantum Theatre: A Midsummer Night's Dream
When? Wed 25th July 2018 – 7.30pm
Where? Penlee Park Theatre, Penzance
Shakespeare’s popular comedy of love and intrigue, magic and mayhem, brought to life in a wonderfully funny and exuberant production of the Shakespeare classic. Come and be enchanted too by this exciting, funny and intriguing new production designed to appeal to the whole family. Suitable for all age groups.
