Bill’s Attic
Bill’s Attic, a space to create and inspire, is coming to Krowji. On the 5th December join WildWorks and FEAST for a special fundraising event to enable the attic to move to its new home.
Bill Mitchell, was the internationally recognised Artistic Director of WildWorks and Kneehigh. Bill created shows that dazzled with vast landscapes, beautiful imagery, intricate storytelling and huge casts. His shows included 100:The Day the World Changed, The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, Tristan & Yseult, Wolf’s Child and The Passion.
Bill’s projects were inspired by his Attic, a private creation space which housed a lifetime’s collection of artefacts: egg shells, toys, spoons, snow globes, archaeology…the flotsam and jetsam of life all arranged with idiosyncratic and exquisite care in the attic of his house.

Bill died 2 years ago and left the attic collection as a gift for the artist in everyone. Under the guidance of FEAST and Wildworks Bill’s extraordinary collection will move to Krowji, Redruth, to provide inspiration for a fresh generation of creators, makers, thinkers, radicals. Bill’s Attic will become a space for artists to develop their own work and be inspired by the collection.
Funding is needed to enable the collection to be carefully packed, transported to it’s new home at Krowji, and then unpacked and arranged. To this end the team have organised a special fundraising event on Thursday December 5th from 6.30pm – 11.00pm.
The newly opened Redruth Drapery will host the evening in their beautiful new space on West End in Redruth. The Redruth Drapery is a reclamation an iconic building built in the early 20th Century. This occasional venue hosts events throughout the year from pop up food events, live music theatre, workshops, and exhibitions. The evening will be compered by performer Craig Johnson with music provided by Seamus Carey and friends, and Cahooty, with other performers and artists popping up during the evening. Delicious food is also included in the ticket price.
As part of the evening there will be a fundraising auction, full of unique treasures and experiences, donated by close friends and associates of Bill. These include:
• Emma Rice’s personal copy of the original story of Tristan & Yseult, inscribed by her.
• Ed Rowe (Kernow King) will cook for you and a friend in the new Bill’s Attic space.
