Countdown to Wolf’s Child – WildWorks

Internationally renowned theatre company WildWorks return to Cornwall with their first show on home turf for over ten years.

With under 100 days to go before the opening night, the WildWorks preparations for Wolf’s Child, which will they will be performing at The Trelowarren Estate near Helston, are well underway.

‘The show is a promenade performance, people follow the action as it unfolds around them. We’ve spent time devising a route around Trelowarren that takes people from the familiar to the unknown – the performance takes people to places on the Estate that are not usually open to the public.’  Emma Hogg, WildWorks

Wolf’s Child, which was originally created for the Norfolk and Norwich Festival in 2015, has been reworked for its new setting.

The show tells the tale of a mother figure who protects her girls from the wild. Their ‘safe’ world is changed forever when ‘mother’ is injured and she sends her most trusted girl into the woods in her place.

WildWorks, who have created work in all sorts of places including Kensington Palace and Palestine, were founded in 2005 when Kneehigh co-founder Bill Mitchell co-created A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings in Hayle.

‘I love simple magic in real places and Trelowarren gives us the perfect surroundings to tell this beautiful and moving tale. It’s a story close to our hearts – one that explores the very essence of being human.’ Bill Mitchell, Artistic Director

‘Wolf’s Child is a huge project. It involves local communities, actors, musicians and makers working together during a month-long project and we can’t wait to get started.’ Emma

Tickets for the production, which runs from Tuesday 11th to Sunday 30th July are available via Hall for Cornwall.
