Exploring identity, reflections & doppelgängers.
Wednesdays 6.30pm to 9pm. 12th February to 4th March
At Hypatia Trust, Penzance, Cornwall
This Creative Writing course by Linda Cleary explores the theme of identity, distorted reflections and doppelgängers. Other than our own discussions and considerations on work produced during the course, we will look at extracts from, amongst others, Haruki Murakami, Fyodor Dostoevsky and Alfred de Musset.
Participants will work from the course theme and given briefs and exercises – writing and developing characters, scenes and narratives – producing pieces of writing within session time and utilising various writing techniques and methods.
“Turning all this over in my mind, I started to imagine another me somewhere, sitting in a bar, nursing a whiskey, without a care in the world. The more I thought about it, the more that other me became the real me, making this me here not real at all.” Haruki Murakami, A Wild Sheep Chase.
