Par

A quaint fishing village and port on the south coast of Cornwall, Par is located at the edge of ‘clay county’, neighbouring the lush and verdant Gribbin Peninsula. The harbour encloses 35 acres of tidal waters which offers a depth of 16ft, meaning only small vessels are able to come in and out of Par.

Offering a quirky collision of sandy beaches and industrial dock buildings, Par’s beachfront combines a large main beach and a smaller one tucked away west of the harbour. The village comprises a triangle of streets which are home to a variety of shops and a popular public house.

Away from the sea and the village centre, Par’s Marsh Villa Gardens offers three acres of woodland, gardens and water features for guests to explore. The attraction is equipped with a small tea room and visitors can purchase plants from the garden to take away with them.

Just outside of Par in Treesmill, visitors can enjoy an outing to the Wingz Bird Sanctuary (open in spring/summer months) where many rare and endangered species are bred and protected under the attraction’s zoo license. Wingz also boasts an on-site cafe, gift shop and toilet facilities.
Par has its own train station, offering regular links to the rest of Cornwall and beyond into the wider UK.
