Carnglaze Caverns

The perfect activity in all weathers, Carnglaze Caverns features an underground cavern, woodland walks and much, much more. With close links to the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, this former slate mine operates a self-guided underground tour where visitors can explore the haunting and magical underground infrastructure as it leads them to the underwater lake with crystal-clear blue and green water.

Set among 6.5 acres of historic oak woodland on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor, visitors can venture approximately 150m into the hillside and descend 60m below ground. The Woodland Walk is also a popular choice for families and comprises a stroll through the Terrace Garden, following the zig-zag pathways through to the Enchanted Dell and Quarry Wood, looking out for the limited-edition bronze faeries, mushrooms and dragons as you go.

This unique venue is not only a fascinating visitor attraction, it is also a popular space for events from weddings to gigs and concerts, and offers a one-off, atmospheric and mesmerising backdrop for intimate performances.

Cornish shanty-singing legends Fisherman’s Friends have performed in the dedicated gig area known as the Rum Store, as well as folk favourites Philip Henry and Hannah Martin, and Mad Dog Mcrea.
