About this event
A whistle-stop tour of beautiful choral music from the G7 Nations.
For this concert, Truro Cathedral Choir enters into the international spirit of the G7 summit. Beautiful musical gems from all seven nations, sung in several languages, will include moving arrangements of the folksongs Shenandoah, Sakura, Londonderry Air, The Turtle Dove, Suo Gan and Loch Lomond. These will be interspersed with a shortened version of Allegri’s Miserere, Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, and Brahms’ Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, as well as contemporary works by Eleanor Daley and Caroline Shaw.
Our offering from here in Cornwall is Russell Pascoe’s new song The world as one, and the concert will also include the first opportunity to hear Gee Seven, the new song written by Peter Hobbs and Tim Rice specially for our choristers as part of Sing2G7.
The programme will also include:
Allegri’s Miserere, abridged (Italy)
Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine (France)
Brahms’ Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen (Germany)
Daley’s Upon your heart (Canada)
with folksongs Shenandoah (America)
Sakura (Japan)
The Turtle Dove (England)
Loch Lomond (Scotland)
Suo Gan (Wales)
Londonderry Air (Northern Ireland)
The Covid-19 pandemic has been extremely challenging for Truro Cathedral Choir. Any profits from the purchase of your ticket for this fundraising concert will raise much-needed funds to support the choir’s significant costs. We hope you can join the choir for a beautiful evening of music whilst supporting the ongoing choral tradition and music at Cornwall’s only cathedral.
