About this event
This concert is a kind of 18th century ‘Last night of the Proms’ featuring a rare outing, in Cornwall, of Handel’s Royal Fireworks Music – plus his Water Music and coronation anthem ‘Zadok the Priest’. Several patriotic numbers from Purcell’s ‘King Arthur’ including his beautiful ‘Fairest Isle’ are followed by music with a Naval focus including Boyce’s ‘Hearts of Oak’, the original ‘Rule Britannia’ by Arne, and two first performances in modern times of Royal Naval Odes by James Hook.
Expect ‘trumpets and drums’, expert singing by Cornish stars Cheryl Brendish, Kate Cattran-Wood, Will Charnley and Harry Hoyland – and music that will cheer everyone up since, goodness knows, there is enough to depress us all at the moment!
Date = Saturday September 17th at 7pm.
Venue = Marazion Community Centre, Gwallon Lane, TR17 0BJ.
Tickets (£10) available at the door or can be reserved in advance via email = [email protected]
