About this event
Join artist Amy Brock-Morgan for a fun and collaborative community flag making workshop as part of the ALMA Winter Arts Weekend. The workshop is open to everyone age 16+. No skills or prior experience required. All materials provided.
Amy is a Cornish Artist, based on the Lizard Peninsula, who specialises in hand sewn textile tapestries; using remnant, repurposed and found fabrics. Seeking and finding, then deconstructing and re-working, turning the old into new. Paying attention to consider the way we produce and consume and the impact this has. Drawn to slow stitch and mediative repair rhythms, Amy responds to the environment around her, the ancient landscape and the fringes where land ends. Amy leads community workshops, teaching hand sewing and applique techniques to make group or individual pieces.
Alma’s Winter Arts Weekend is on the closing weekend of Be Newquay Festival. As well as this activity, there are many other experiences to enjoy as part of Alma’s Winter Weekend. Find out more here.
The Be Newquay Festival is a new season of events, activities and workshops that celebrate Newquay’s culture and creative spirit.
