About this event
Hello and welcome. I am Julia Chapman, the artist behind Anima Floris, The Rainbow Home.
As a creative soul I have loved and worked with colour my whole life. Be it in painting, crochet or quilting, the colour choices I make impact whether or not a piece of art ‘feels’ right, making my designs very emotion driven. Early on I was drawn to the ideas behind colour theory and psychology and how if used consciously, colour can actually enhance our wellbeing.
I realised that filling my home with bright, cheerful colours had a huge positive impact on my mental health as well as my creativity; so Anima Floris came about from wanting to inspire others to create their own happy, positive spaces by adding colour to their homes in a very mindful way.
The original artwork and unique crocheted home furnishings I make are all designed with this in mind.
Since moving to Cornwall 4 years ago I have been constantly inspired by everything this beautiful county has to offer…the glorious changing colour of the sea and bright skies, the rainbow patchwork of the fields and flower filled hedgerows through the seasons, as well as the very colourful Cornish characters I meet! Using tactile yarns and bold paints to show off that colour has helped me make Cornwall my Rainbow Home.
Come and visit me in Phillack to wrap yourself in a cosy rainbow blanket or shawl, decorate your favourite comfy chair with a colourful cushion and adorn your walls with bright textile and painted art. After all… a little bit of rainbow is good for the soul!
