About this event
The beaded necklaces will use various techniques of connecting the beads, these can include specialist wires, threads including silk and linen and cotton. I will be demonstrating how these techniques can be used for different jobs and materials. The larger beads can be used with wire, if the bead material is robust enough. Silk is traditionally used for pearl threading as it is strong but not as harsh as some material. Linen and cotton thread I have used for the lariot style necklaces and also in lampshade making.
The silver pieces are mainly geometric in style. These evolved out of photos of drain covers etc. The technique used was photo etching which is akin to screen printing in technique. I will also be working on some pieces which evolved out of photos of granite pavement carvings for cuffs, bangles and earrings.
