Camelford

Situated on the River Camel within easy reach of some of the best surfing beaches in North Cornwall, Camelford is a popular destination for any adventure-packed weekend.

Those with a passion for outdoor pursuits can join the infamous Camel Trail, an 18-mile multi-use route that begins in Padstow and ends in Wadebridge, or take a trip to one of the nearby beaches and try their hand at surfing or bodyboarding. A trip to Rough Tor is also well worth making time for. Sitting tall at 1,311 feet, this historical landmark offers a fantastic vantage point across the surrounding area.

Once an important market town, Camelford is now a popular destination which offers stunning gardens, riverside walks and an array of restaurants and cafes to choose from.

In addition to being a family-friendly hotspot, the area’s strong community spirit and support for the arts is celebrated at Camelford Village Hall, a popular space known for hosting a variety of events including intimate musical performances and theatrical shows. Supported by Carn to Cove, Cornwall’s performing arts scheme for rural communities, Camelford Village Hall has welcomed artists from all over the West Country and beyond, as well as hosting regular community film nights in association with C Fylm, Cornwall’s film club network.

The Camelford Carnival is also an important date in the local calendar. This much-loved event takes place each October and sees floats, walkers and bands joining the parade to put on a spectacular, energetic and lively procession throughout this quintessentially Cornish town.
