Penryn

The small, pleasant town of Penryn is located on the Penryn River and has fortunately been recognised as an important conservation area. As such, present and future visitors can enjoy exploring the town’s stunning Georgian, Jacobean and Tudor architecture as they wander the historic streets.

Visitors to Penryn can discover more about the town’s fascinating history at its museum in the Town Hall, where a vast array of toys, photographs, old fire appliances and original Glasney Stone are all on display.

The Bluebell Festival at Enys, one of Cornwall’s oldest gardens, remains an annual draw for locals and visitors alike, with an affordable art exhibition and craft fair adding extra dimensions to the celebrations. The gardens are open during the spring and summer months, and feature an on-site cafe and a history room.

The annual Penryn Week takes place in July, culminating in a lively, colourful carnival and parade where the newly crowned Fairy Queen makes her float debut. Throughout the celebratory seven days, locals and visitors can enjoy art displays, bingo competitions, quiz nights and heritage walks.

Each year, the Penryn Arts Festival presents a varied programme including spoken-word performances, open studios and workshops, offering a fascinating array of events for locals and visitors to enjoy. The festival also includes a one-day music and theatre event in the park and a cinematic celebration within the Town Hall, screening contemporary films and family classics.
