The Hall for Cornwall takes up residence on the Back Quay in Truro and regularly welcomes some of the biggest names in the arts, from internationally renowned musicians and home-grown talent to family-based live theatre such as Peppa Pig and The Gruffalo, as well as seasonal pantomimes.
Visitors to Truro should also take the time to explore Lemon Street Gallery (LSG), a leading contemporary space which welcomes exhibitions from both up-and-coming artists as well as established, celebrated names. Cornwall is renowned for its modernist art traditions, and the LSG is one of the finest spots to discover new pieces.
Offering extensive opportunities to explore the history of the region, the Royal Cornwall Museum must not be missed. Founded in 1818, the museum boasts permanent Roman, Greek and Egyptian exhibitions as well as setting up temporary exhibits celebrating Cornish history, archaeology and culture.
Truro also hosts its very own mid-winter lantern parade known as ‘City of Lights’ which takes place in November each year. The popular event comprises a large-scale procession which makes its way through the streets of Truro and incorporates art, music, dance and light, drawing in vast crowds from Cornwall and beyond.
