About this event
Join us for a calming afternoon exploring the relationship between song lyrics and art at St Cubert’s Church on Monday 6th July from 1pm – 3pm.
Come and experiment with mixed media as a gentle way to explore the connection between song lyrics, emotion, and physical artwork. You don’t need any prior experience or particular art skills to join in.
To help inspire our creative process, we will be using a very special piece of music: a song written collaboratively by our community especially for HushFest! As you settle into the space, our facilitator will give a brief introduction to the activity before playing the song. We will provide you with a printed lyric sheet, and you are invited to see if a specific part of the song, a single word, or an overall feeling stands out to you.
Using that inspiration, you will have the freedom to create your own piece of mixed media art. You can choose to focus quietly on your own individual piece, or work collaboratively in a small group depending on how you feel most comfortable.
This drop-in session is part of HushFest, Cornwall’s Festival of Quietness, taking place from 4th to 10th July 2026. Through exhibitions, workshops, performances, and community-created artwork, HushFest celebrates quietness as a source of creativity, connection, and belonging.

Due to the historic nature of the building, the church is currently not wheelchair accessible and requires navigating steps at the entrance and between internal areas.
