Origins of Penlee: Portraits, locals, artists and celebrities
In this first lecture in a series of 7 on the Fine and Decorative Art collection of Penlee House Gallery in Penzance, Cornwall with art historian Catherine Wallace we look at the original family who owned Penlee and the formation of the Museum. The portraits of locals, artists and celebrities from the 18th to 20th centuries. Artists include R. T. Pentreath, John Opie, Sir Humphrey Davy, Walter Langley Edwin Harris, W. Wainwright, Stanhope Forbes, T. C. Gotch, H. Harvey. D. Swan, Elizabeth Forbes, Dod Procter, Laura Knight, Midge Bruford, Leonard Fuller, John Armstrong etc.
