About this event
West Cornwall based awen productions is launching a new and very special project about the incredible Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital, which is nearly 100 years old! Join us to rediscover their story.
We’re celebrating the remarkable sisters Dorothy and Pog Yglesias, who founded the hospital in 1928 and dedicated their lives to saving wild birds. Our new project will uncover their story, engage with the community on the journey and explore contemporary narratives about wildlife, ornithology, community and conservation. The sisters’ ethos of empathy and compassion has never been more relevant.
For our first of four events, we will have presentations, refreshments, a beautiful short film (Skyward) by Jessica Bishopp (Doc Society/Guardian Documentaries) with virtual Q&A and live music with Jollity Farm (1920s/30s/40s jazz tunes).
Line up includes:
Presentation Barbara Santi, Director awen productions introducing the Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital audio-visual project
Short film ‘Skyward’ (film supported by BFI Doc Society in collaboration with The Guardian Documentaries) with Jessica Bishopp virtual Q&A.
Presentation Sally Crabtree on ‘Birds on the Branchline’ project
Live music with Jollity Farm (1920s/30/40s music)
Refreshments available.
Join us for reflections, conversations, celebration and dancing!
