The Afro-Celtic dance band inspired by the infectious Baka rhythms of the Cameroon will have you dancing in the aisles.
Baka Beyond, the Afro-Celtic dance band, come to St Endellion as part of a national tour to celebrate 25 years of groundbreaking music-making. Inspired by the music of the Baka people of the Cameroon rain forest, the band use Baka rhythms to fuse their Celtic and African roots, bringing musicians from different cultures and backgrounds together. The result is highly infectious, crossing boundaries of genre, age and ethnicity.
The rhythms of the Baka people resonate with musical styles from all around the world. Baka Beyond’s new live show conveys the sense of joyous celebration carried in these rhythms.
The band members still regularly visit the Baka and support the community through their charity Global Music Exchange.
“It was impossible to resist the relentlessly upbeat nature of the music. There were big smiles on screen, on stage and in the audience as the music progressed to a final grand dance with everyone standing and moving to the intoxicating rhythm.” The Bristol Post
Please note that whilst there is fixed seating available, this is predominantly a standing event.
