Learn to make a small banner using fabric & yarns!
Join Sara Clasper and Sarah Perry and come and make a small banner.
Maybe you’d like to make a banner for yourself, a cause, your street or a group? We’ll provide all the equipment you’ll need to do this.
Banners have been made throughout history by various groups (e.g. miners, feminists) to raise awareness about important issues and the importance of identity and belonging.
Making banners fits well with Sara and Sarah’s craftivism (craft + activism) approach – the art of gentle protest. Sarah Corbett’s Craftivism Manifesto, connecting with hands, hearts and heads, is our constant guide.
Please feel free to bring along any fabric or yarns that you might want to incorporate into your banner.
Sarah and Sara both love working with textiles and try to reuse and recycle as much as they can in all their projects and encourage you to do so too. We’re looking forward to raising banners with you!
