Penzance LitFest presents Terry Stiastny's presentation on wartime 'fake news'

Fake news isn’t new. During WW2, Britain had a secret team – the Political Warfare Executive – dedicated to creating dark propaganda that was broadcast by radio into occupied Europe. Terry Stiastny is an author, journalist and broadcaster, who has published two political thrillers, Acts of Omission and Conflicts of Interest. Based on original archive research and drawing on her experience of Westminster and the BBC, Believable Lies, is her first historical book and explores Churchill’s secret propaganda war. Was this justified in order to shorten the war or did we let an evil genie out of the bottle? Learn more about the fascinating, brilliant and flawed people behind the story.
