About this event
Join us to make a beautiful berry basket using willow. The workshop will be led by Vanessa who has been weaving baskets since 2016, when shortly after moving to Cornwall she found willow growing in her garden. She is passionate about traditional techniques, growing and weaving plant materials into functional and artistic pieces. As a retired paramedic in the London Ambulance Service, she has swapped busy city life for the calm and relaxing craft of willow weaving. Though, she acknowledges that while it is relaxing, it can still be tough to master new techniques. She runs private workshops for all levels of experience and says that one of the things she enjoys most is passing on knowledge of this ancient craft.
Vanessa belongs to the Basket Markers Southwest, Heritage Crafts and The Basketmakers Assocation.
Cost: £40 per person – Pre-booking is essential
