Following Eurohouse and the award-winning Palmyra, Bert and Nasi return to AMATA with ONE.
ONE is the third and final part of a trilogy of work exploring power dynamics and political themes on a micro, human level. Following Eurohouse and the Total Theatre Award-winning Palmyra, Bert and Nasi return to AMATA with ONE. It’s about polarisation, it’s about the left and the right. It’s also about two people who need to fix an awful, toxic relationship.
ONE is a painful conversation, either late at night or the early morning, in which neither side can bring themselves to just leave the room.
Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas’s work is stripped back to say the least: the shows shouldn’t be interesting, but the way they play with humour, brutality, and their ability to turn the mood of a room on a sixpence has resonated with audiences across the world.
They are, to my mind, one of the most exciting prospects in British theatre. Matt Trueman, Whatsonstage
****This wonderfully playful, intimate and ultimately moving show… Constantly pits idealism against self-interest and pragmatism. Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
****startlingly effective: jagged, knockabout fun with a decidedly sharp edge. The Times (on PALMYRA)
