About this event
My studio is very close to a much loved dog walking beach on the South East Cornish coast. I’m extremely fortunate to live and work so close to the ocean. I’m messy and a bit of a hoarder, so the studio is full of the flotsam and jetsam given up by the tide, pressed seaweed, an assortment of bones, strange objects and bags and bags of human detritus. This rich resource is the inspiration for many of my prints. I use various printmaking processes to express my work. I love Etching but found this difficult in lockdown as I was no longer able to go to Tamar Valley Printmakers Studios, which specialises in traditional Etching processes. I bought a larger press for my studio and started to explore Mono – printing for the first time. I’ve had so much fun developing techniques which enable me to express my love of my environment and visualise some of the challenges we face. My work is getting bigger and more colourful, its also travelling underwater, as I imagine life below the surface.
Downderry is a lovely little village tucked away in the forgotten corner of Cornwall. With a much loved pub, a vegan cafe, a super friendly dog walking beach and the coastal path running through it, what’s not to like.
Seaton is less than a mile away which has more cafes, a pub and Seaton Valley Countryside Park which has playgrounds and public toilets.
