About this event
Discover Bodmin through an artist’s eyes – from the natural beauty of the Camel Trail to the dramatic historic surroundings of Bodmin Jail.
Join experienced artist Lisa Cooper for a relaxed and inspiring creative art trail combining walking, observational sketching and watercolour.
We’ll begin with a walk along Bodmin’s Camel Trail, loosely sketching as we go to capture what catches our eye – from the landscape and natural details to interesting shapes, textures and views. After around an hour of walking and sketching, we’ll make our way to award-winning Bodmin Jail, one of Cornwall’s most striking historic attractions. Here, we’ll settle in the courtyard to paint and sketch, surrounded by the Jail’s dramatic stone architecture and rich sense of history – a wonderful contrast to the natural landscape of the Camel Trail. Here we will introduce watercolour washes, using colour to develop our sketches and create a personal record of this unique creative journey through Bodmin.
Lisa will be on hand throughout to offer friendly guidance, practical tips and encouragement, helping you explore observational drawing and develop your confidence.
