Bodmin Keep brings the Second World War to life for summer half term!

Bodmin Keep has a week of Second World War themed fun family activities to keep all ages engaged. Activities are on throughout the day (10am – 4.30pm) and are included in the admission price. The museum is great value at £7 per adult, £3 per child and under 5 years are free.

Cornish Land Girls and Growing Your Own
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 June
Find out about the Women’s Land Army in Cornwall with replica uniform and intriguing objects. Our youngest visitors can collect cress seeds to take home and grow their own!

Wartime Nursing
2 & 3 June
Meet Sue, our Second World War nurse, and learn about the work of nurses and medics during wartime both at home and on the battlefront. Find out about how the care of those who were wounded greatly improved from the First World War during this family friendly talk with an expert.

Boot Buffing Demonstration
2 & 4 June
Find out how soldiers at Bodmin Keep would have had to keep their buttons and boots ship shape or feel the wrath of the Drill Serjeant. Learn the tricks and get buffing!
Curator’s Curiosities
1, 3 & 4 June
Get up close to some curious objects from the Second World War which have been specially chosen by our Trainee Curator, Isabella. Find out about their stories in short, family-friendly talks.
Second World War Re-enactment
5 June
On Saturday, the museum grounds will be taken over by Re-enactment South West with their Second World War living history display! There will be American and Russian jeeps and a British motorbike on display. You can also find out what it was like to be a Russian female sniper and about life in the US and British Infantry.
