About this event

Make a hardback sketchbook filled with watercolour paper using traditional bookbinding techniques.

In this full day workshop you will be guided through making a bookblock, a cover and finally how to bring them together to make a beautiful landscape book of 200gsm watercolour paper.

You will learn about paper grain, folding, collating and stitching together the pages to make a bookblock, before tackling the case (cover) and finally binding the two together. Not only will you leave with a beautiful landscape hardbound book that can be used as a journal or sketchbook, you will also take home the skills to make many more at your kitchen table. No previous experience is necessary.

The cost of the workshop covers all the materials required as well as tea, coffee, soft drinks etc. Lunch is not provided.

Aprons are available for you to use however, as glue is involved, you may wish to wear clothes that can get messy!
Don’t forget your reading glasses if you need them as there is a lot of close up work.

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
Ken Futers graduated in Textiles and after a long and successful career in retail and customer support started Books n Boxes in 2011. Completely self taught in bookbinding Ken has gone on to teach hundreds of students.
