Discussion on the role The Arts can play in bringing about change
The environment, inclusion and equality, safeguarding the truth, mental wellbeing, political engagement – the pressing issues of our time and all areas where arts practitioners, organisations and campaigners are active, including here in Cornwall, a region facing many challenges.
But do these creative efforts make a measurable difference? If not would all that time, talent and energy be better spent elsewhere? If they can then how, and how can we amplify their impact?
This is the topic we’ll be exploring with the help of experts and practitioners from academia, business, the charitable sector and activism. The session will offer an opportunity for you to air your views as well as listen to the differing views of others and to consider whether and how, in a county as full of potential as it is problems, creativity and the arts can be part of the solution.
The panellists will be:
Manda Brookman – Activist, Social Innovator, Disruptor
Misha Curson – Curator, The Eden Project
Jayne Howard – Founder and Director, Arts Well
Alan Murray – Deputy Vice Chancellor and Head of Falmouth School of Art at Falmouth University
Loui Netter – Illustrator, Satirist, Reportage Artist and Social Researcher.
