About this event
Caroline has worked as an illustrator, author and picture book artist for nearly 30 years. As a child she loved to draw and make wobbly cardboard creations. At art college she studied graphic design and illustration, after graduation she began her freelance career in editorials before moving into children’s publishing.
Most of her books have bold, bright and colourful pictures but alongside this work she has developed a collection of more delicate, subtle images based on print techniques.
She has a keen interest in printmaking and the huge variety of marks, textures and patterns that can be created using print. With much practise she has developed her own particular way of working with mono-type and other experimental techniques.
Her prints are filled with strange imaginative characters, scratchy delicate lines and fine textures. She finds inspiration from the everyday, ordinary and extraordinary world, from newspaper articles to song lyrics, TV adverts books, film, nature and very badly behaved seagulls.
In the studio you will be able to see a variety of childrens picture book illustrations { including rough sketches, storyboards and finished art } together with a collection of experimental prints for sale.
