CAST is open five days a week: Tuesday – Saturday | 10am – 5pm
About this event
The CAST building – in the old school building at 3 Penrose Road, Helston – re-opens to the public on Tuesday 4th August.
The café will be open daily, 10am to 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday, and the same hours apply for CAST activities. In the black box screening space CAST is presenting a programme of quietly humorous short films by the renowned artist film-maker John Smith. The programme runs for an hour and you can drop in at any time – free admission, booking not required. You can also pick up information about CAST-Off, a programme of activities for families, running throughout August.
In response to social distancing requirements, CAST is taking its family Think and Make activities out of doors this year, to explore the wonderful valley of the River Cober. CAST-Off and keep safe whilst following a trail from Lowertown through Helston to Loe Bar, with an activity map suggesting lots of creative and imaginative things to do along the way. It’s a long trail so you can do it in your own time and in bits.
Start at CAST and pick up a FREE pack containing a trail map, a special sketchbook and pencil – everything you need to CAST-Off. CAST is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
The trail is divided into eight sections and covers different environments, including riverbank, woodland, park, boating lake, meadow, marsh, walled garden and shingle bar. Look back in time at the geography, topography and wildlife of this special valley, to build a detailed picture of a place like no other.
You can use the activity map to do things as a family in your own time. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, artists will pop up at different outdoor locations to inspire invention and making..
To find out what is going on and where, check the CAST website or CASTcornwall Facebook page each week. Tuesday and Saturday sessions will run from 10 am to 12 noon and 2 to 4pm, but you can use the activity map, follow the trail and find things to do at any time.
