About this event
Part of the Digital Causley Festival of Arts and Literature.
Tim Kendall discusses the relationship between William Golding and his native county of Cornwall.
From Golding’s birth in Newquay and his earliest memories, to his later years after winning the Nobel Prize when he moved from Wiltshire to Perranarworthal in search of greater privacy, Golding found Cornwall a source of inspiration. Including a discussion of unpublished materials held in the Golding archive at the University of Exeter, the talk will chart the influence of Cornwall on Golding’s imaginative world.
Tim Kendall is Professor of English Literature and Academic Director of Special Collections at the University of Exeter. He is currently working on an edition of the correspondence between William Golding and his editor at Faber & Faber, Charles Monteith.
