Causley Festival: If I Didn’t Write Poetry I Think I’d Explode

Causley Short Audio Plays Showcase : Down Stage Write
A series of short audio plays inspired by Causley’s poetry

In December 2019, Down Stage Write staged 4 new plays at IntoBodmin inspired by the poetry of Charles Causley and in association with the Charles Causley Trust.

Now, Down Stage Write are reuniting the teams that originally worked on the plays in order to present them as audio recordings. Written by Devon and Cornwall based playwrights and poets, the plays use Causley’s work as a springboard to urgent stories of humans, the land and folklore. Each has a very different take on the poems, so expect laughter, tears and a distinctly Cornish point of view.

These four plays will be accompanied by still images from the original cast productions and will feature a number of readings from ‘A Certain Man: Charles Causley in his words’ by Simon Parker.
