CORNWALL SYMPHONY CHORUS AND THE KING’S SINGERS TO PERFORM TOGETHER AT TRURO CATHEDRAL THIS SUMMER
Cornwall Symphony Chorus are excited to announce that their very special guests for their summer concert this year will be The King’s Singers! Taking place in the incredible setting of Truro Cathedral on Saturday 5th August 2023 at 7.30pm, this promises to be an evening that you will never forget and one not to be missed!
The Cornwall Symphony Chorus is one of the largest mixed-voice choirs in the West Country, with over a hundred members regularly performing across Cornwall. Their Musical Director, Alastair Taylor, created the choir and with the repertoire spread across all aspects of music, including classical, oratorio, showstoppers, opera, blues, folk music and jazz, it’s no wonder that the choir is as popular as ever. In fact, CSC’s Christmas concert in December 2022 was yet another sell-out performance.
The choir is incredibly excited to be performing with The King’s Singers. This world-class a cappella group have been performing on the world’s largest stages for over fifty years to international acclaim and have won numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award and a place in Gramophone magazine’s inaugural Hall of Fame. The King’s Singers have been conducting a world tour since the beginning of 2023 and have added this summer concert at Truro Cathedral to their schedule as the final date of this tour. Having never performed in Truro before, they are as keen to visit Cornwall as CSC is to welcome them!
The Musical Director of Cornwall Symphony Chorus, Alastair Taylor, says, “We are incredibly proud and privileged to not only be performing with such a prestigious group as The King’s Singers, but that they have agreed to end their world tour with us this summer. Having them join us is a real coup for Cornwall Symphony Chorus, Truro Cathedral and Cornwall as a whole.”
This year’s summer concert will include CSC’s signature piece ‘Zadok The Priest/Hallelujah Chorus’ alongside musical medleys from “Phantom of the Opera” and “My Fair Lady” and a stunning arrangement of ‘How Great Thou Art’.
