On Wednesday the 25th August, the volunteer team from the Fishermen’s Mission Charity will be outside with their marquee on Baron’s Square, opposite the Co-op in Newlyn. Between 11am and 4pm they will have their stall set up with plenty of items to purchase, all proceeds will support the charity’s work.
The Fishermen’s Mission provide welfare and pastoral support to active, retired fishermen as well as their families. The charity was established in 1881 and they are delighted to be celebrating 140 years of providing support to the fishing community in the South West and throughout the UK.
In the afternoon, the wonderful local singing groups have donated their time to join in the celebration. Joining us are the voices of; Buccas Four, Twin Harmony and Pendans and Dryft. Some of the items for sales are special limited-edition copies of Voices of Cornwall CD Box sets will be available for the special price of £10 each! Other Fishing Community Partnerships will also be there to join in the celebration.
