My artworks are statement pieces, usually large and bold - designed to grab your attention in any interior-commercial / private setting.

Small, quick impressionistic sketches from life are the starting point for my paintings as I believe that drawing is a fundamental discipline for my creative development, I’ll then upscale these sketches into larger pieces where I indulge myself with paints, inks and interesting marks and textures.
Speed and colour are the 2 main elements that are integral to my work.

When I’m painting I add both thick and transparent layers allowing for the crude underpainting to show through in places, perhaps I’ll smear, flick some paint or scratch through to the base colour, I am usually always adding/subtracting paint until I feel that I’ve suggested enough and the painting is finished.

Living and working on the South Cornish coast I’m surrounded by inspiration – be it the ever changing seascape in front of my studio or the fish that my fisherman husband catches, both of which are challenging as the colours change rapidly with both subjects, and if I fancy a change there’s always life drawing!

Prices vary from £3.00 – £2,500

I have also worked for many years as a freelance designer for several greeting card companies and charities : WWF, The Guide Dogs, Woodmansterne, Medici, PaperHouse, Gibson Greetings.

Wavecrest is a seafront studio set in the picturesque village of Downderry which has a safe swimming beach and is near to the SW coastal path.
