Cornish Books – Illustration - Open Studios

Visit the Cornish Books studio to see a range of children's illustration and the range of prints and books for purchase.

Find us in studio 114b at Krowji where you will be able to view original children’s illustrations, behind the scenes sketches and gain an insight into how children’s books are brought to life.

Cornish books encompasses a range of children’s book titles, illustration services and independent publishing advice, all headed by Alexandra.

Creating books that are beautiful and interesting to both adult and child is key focus in Alexandra’s style. She is also responsible, under the pen name Lilac Rosenwyn, for the Cornish Legends chapter book series which aims to bring the world of Cornish Myths and Legends to a new generation.

Alexandra has an extensive background in Environmental education and conservation. Whilst working for a countryside project in Kent, Alexandra ran guided walks and children’s activities with a focus on engaging people in nature through art. Upon moving to Cornwall in 2008, Alexandra topped up her studies in Marine Environmental Management and completed a Certificate in Education, enabling her to work for a number of years as a Lecturer in Marine Biology.

With the birth of her three children, Alexandra combined her educational and artistic background to create inspiring and informative children’s books for ages 9 and under.

Working in traditional mediums of watercolour, Alexandra creates visually appealing stories to inspire. She additionally works with other authors to bring their words to life with her illustrations.

Alexandra will be in the studio working on current projects, so feel free to have a chat about the process and what independent publishing is. There will also be a range of prints available to purchase, as well as children’s books.
