About this event
Have you got an old bottle at home you would like to know more about or do you have a bottle story to share?
Meet the Cornish Bottle Archive Team and help us to tell the story of bottles in Cornwall.
For this event we are focusing on the Helston and Porthleven area but if you have something related to other locations in Cornwall, please do bring it along.
We will have our lightbox set up to take photographs, so we can record your bottle or item to share with the wider community.
The Cornish Bottle Archive (founded in 2023) was established to document all known, found and collected Cornish bottles dating up to 1939. Bottles recorded will include glass and ceramics such as flagons, Codd bottles, beer bottles, ginger beer bottles, medicines, pot lids and much more. This ambitious three-year project will culminate in a 50-year anniversary exhibition in 2026 to commemorate the last full scale bottle exhibition in Cornwall, hosted in Truro in 1976.
Please do bring all the family and friends as we will have craft activities for children to take part in and the museum will be open as usual for all to explore.
For any queries please message or email [email protected]
Part of Helston Makes It!, our week-long annual celebration of makers and craft. This year, the festival celebrates the trades and crafts on display in our Meat Market, such as glove making, serpentine turning and woodwork.
