Cornish Rubbings – Summer at KK!

Come and get creative this summer at Kresen Kernow! Join us on Thursday 20 August, 10am-12pm, for Cornish Rubbings! Using specialist wax block crayons, make a rubbing from lino cuts inspired by the history of Cornwall. Choose from 12 different designs including flying choughs, engine houses, St Piran arriving in Cornwall on a millstone, animals and many more. Also, have a go at making texture prints and abstract shapes to create your own artwork.

This workshop is drop-in, free and for all ages. The large block crayons are perfect for little hands.

Please note: we will not be doing lino carving. All lino cuts are pre-cut and the workshop is making rubbings from them. If you have been to our St Piran’s printing workshop, they are the same designs, but this time we are using crayons instead of ink to make designs.

We’ll also be running this session on Thursdays 30 July and 6 August.

Details

Kresen Kernow is fully wheelchair and pushchair accessible, with lifts to all levels and automatic main entrance doors. Accessible toilets are available on both floors, with a fully-equipped Changing Places toilet also available on the ground floor. Separate baby changing facilities are also available on the ground floor. If you are arriving by vehicle, there are six accessible parking spaces at the Tesco side of the building and a level entrance into the building. If you are arriving on foot or wheels, from Redruth town centre, the closest entrance is at the end of the public path which runs through the old brewery site, from Chapel Street to Kresen Kernow. Please note, Kresen Kernow does not have a fire lift, but two fire refuges are located on the first floor.
