About this event
Welcoming over 50 choirs to 40 events at 30 locations this is the largest festival of its kind in the world.
Cornwall International Male Choral Festival 2022 is a series of performances and concerts across many venues in Cornwall. These are an eclectic mix of youth and adult male choral ensembles from all over the world offering live music and diverse programmes of choral music.
There really is something for everyone in every corner of Cornwall!
Festival Programme Includes:
Opening Concert
Thur 28th April, 7.30pm, Truro Cathedral
The festival opens with a concert in the stunning Cathedral setting featuring: Truro Cathedral Choir, The Gesualdo Six, Rossendale Male Voice Choir, Celtic Male Ensemble, and Knabenkantorei Basel from Switzerland.
Celebration Gala with VOCES 8
Sun 1st May, 7pm, Hall for Cornwall
Sunday evening Gala concert with British vocal ensemble VOCES8. Touring globally, the group performs an extensive repertoire both in its a cappella concerts and in collaborations with leading orchestras, conductors and soloists. Also taking to the Hall for Cornwall stage are Epsom Male Voice Choir, South West Voices and Weybridge Male Voice Choir.
Finale Gala Concert with Only Men Aloud
Mon 2nd May, 7pm, Hall for Cornwall
Welsh choir Only Men Aloud headline the final concert of the Festival. The men have become well known for their strong vocals and their varied and eclectic repertoire. There will also be performances from Mousehole Male Voice Choir, Atlantic Boychoir from Canada and ffortissibros from Germany.
Regional Gala Concerts
Thur 28 April – Sun 1 May, 7pm, Cornwall Wide
Across the Festival there are 16 separate concerts taking place in venues across Cornwall. Catch Raddbandafélag Reykjavíkur (Iceland) at St Petroc’s Church in Wadebridge; The Hereford Police Male Voice Choir (England) at St John’s Church in St Austell; Bechgyn Bro Tâf (Wales) at St Petroc’s Church in Bodmin; or The Gentlemen Songsters (England) at St Neot Parish Church. These performers will be joined by a host of choirs from across Cornwall including Holman Climax Male Voice Choir, Truromance, and Nankersey Male Choir.
Day Time Performances
Thur 28 April – Mon 2 May, Various Times, Cornwall Wide
Enjoy some day time concerts and pop up performances throughout the Festival. Experience singing in a beautiful garden setting at Trebah Gardens, with a pint in your hand at St Austell Brewery, or surrounded by art at Tate St Ives.
