Rare live show for a good cause, plus new album.

I am venturing out to play one of my very rare live shows, partly because during lockdown I accidentally wrote a brand new album! The album is called Murmurations and it’s my first new full length since 2016’s Downswing. It will be out in August, so this show will feature the first-ever live outing for that new material!

The second and more important reason is to raise money for the Bring Paul Morris Home fundraising effort. In November 2019, Paul Morris was windsurfing near his home in Penzance, Cornwall when an accident occurred that no one saw and he can’t remember. Paul was found face down in the water, almost drowned and paralysed from the shoulders down with a broken neck.

Some amazing treatment and care have resulted in Paul regaining limited use of his hands and arms but with legs that will remain paralysed. More than ready to return home, he cannot do so until urgent remodelling of his home to safely support his future wheelchair-bound life is completed.

Paul’s wife Kate is a dearly loved colleague of ours and his son is a well-loved figure within our little corner of the music scene too, so all the proceeds from this show will go to this really important cause. I’m sure lots of you know at least one of the family so this is something we can all do to help.

We also be celebrating Qube Records and as last time I played at the Acorn in 2019 we will be inviting some Qube legends up on stage to perform their songs with us, and we have an epic list of guests lined up.

Furthermore, the evening will be opened by solo sets from 2020 Qube Records Artist of the Year Charlie Upchurch, and Qube Records’ first-ever artist Beth Trevithick who will play songs from her brilliant EP Pretty Petty!

All in all, it’s going to be an awesome show!
