Decorative Plaster & Running Mould Masterclass

Join us for a one-day course where you will learn the fundamentals of decorative plasterwork with Master Plasterer Sean Wheatley. Sean will guide you through running a mould in-situ, fibrous plasterwork on the bench and applying a finishing coat of plaster.

This one-day course consists of two parts, theory and practical. First, we begin the day with an introduction to internal and external ornamental plasterwork. We then move to practical demonstrations and the opportunity to get hands-on. There will be plenty of time for Q&A throughout the day, and open discussion is encouraged.

This course is ideal for anyone looking to get started with decorative plasterwork, especially plasterers keen to expand their skill set.

Course overview
– Introduction and presentation on internal and external ornamental plasterwork
– Preparation and mixing of coarse stuff for a cornice backing coat
– Run a muffle coat
– Filling silicon moulds for decorative casts
– Preparing and mixing the finishing coat for the cornice
– Applying the mix and running the finish coat in situ with the running mould
– Demonstration of fibrous plasterwork on a bench
– Removing new casts from the silicon moulds
– Discussion / Q&A

This course welcomes students aged 16 and above who are enthusiastic about getting started with lime-based products. We encourage everyone joining us to approach the course ready to learn, ask questions and get hands-on with the materials and tools.
