About this event
From our historic studios overlooking Porthmeor Beach, learn how to interpret your sketches to produce mixed media pieces that consider composition, observational drawing elements and a blend of materials.
In the first part of this workshop you will learn about “composition”. What makes a successful image and how we can use these ideas to compose our own. Spend the morning gathering inspiration by sketching, working from observation, in the lanes around the studio.
After lunch you will use these sketches and explore mixing media, such as pencil, charcoal, ink, paint and collage, to create you own composition. Learn which media you can mix, and which you can’t, and some techniques to help you do this. It will challenge your preconceived ideas of what’s “right” and encourage you to adopt a creative and experimental mindset; not just how to “loosen up your painting” but how to “loosen up your thinking”.
