About this event
Celebrate Pride Month with colour, creativity and community! Join artist James Frost on Saturday 6 June, 10am-3pm, for a hands‑on, feelgood workshop where you’ll design, cut and heat‑press your own slogan t‑shirt—all while sharing stories, using archives, making friends and embracing bold, campy creativity.
Whether your slogan is playful, political, tender or loud, this workshop is about visible queer joy and the power of self‑expression, inspired by copies of queer history documents from the collections at Kresen Kernow.
What will happen on the day:
Welcome and artist talk (10 mins) – James introduces their practice, exploring slogan art, queer camp, and the importance of joy, visibility and humour in queer culture.
Heat press induction (5 mins) – a short safety demo so everyone feels confident using the equipment.
Letter‑cutting demo (5 mins) – learn how to cut vinyl letters and plan a strong, eye‑catching design.
Open making time – design your slogan, cut your letters and print your t‑shirt while chatting, laughing and socialising with other participants.
Tea and lunch breaks – time to relax, refuel and connect.
Hot water will be available for drinks, and the Arch Café at Kresen Kernow will be open. Shops are just a short walk away and there is space to eat a packed lunch.
🎟️ Tickets and cost – £20 per person; includes all materials plus a blank t‑shirt. Book your space on James’ Eventbrite page.
No need to bring anything—just your creativity and good energy! All tools and materials provided, but please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little crafty in.
This workshop is for ages 16+ (due to craft knives and heat press equipment). For more information visit Kresen Kernow’s event page or the Eventbrite listing.
