Carn to Cove is co-promoting the opening concert of the 2021 Dante Summer Festival in Launceston Town Hall on Sunday 11th July, given by the world-renowned Brodsky Quartet and star cellist Laura van der Heijden, along with the local young talents of Trigg Strings. The evening concert is preceded by an afternoon of free activity for families and children, all are welcome.
The action begins at 4.30pm with a special free workshop for children, young students and their parents. The Brodsky Quartet introduce their wonderful stringed instruments (some more than 300 years old) and offer a guided tour to the evening concert, playing highlights from the greatest piece of romantic music: Schubert’s great C Major Quintet. They will describe Schubert’s life and times, and show how Schubert – using just five instruments – manages to express the heights of joy, the depths of despair and everything in between. The sound of two cellos in the glorious acoustic of Launceston Town Hall will be something to hear! The Children of Trigg Strings will also show their skills in a dress rehearsal, playing a medley of tunes from around the world in a special arrangement with the Brodsky Quartet.
Parents and carers are particularly welcomed, and children require no music skills to come along and take part. If they are interested in learning an instrument or hearing about music, don’t miss the chance to bring them to hear a World Class string quartet – an amazing opportunity. One £5 ticket will also secure admission to the evening concert for parent/carer, and all children go free!
While admission is free, “tickets” need to be booked in advance online at CRBO
