About this event

DROLLYS is a new, free, monthly storytelling event for children aged 4 - 11 and their adults.

Each month one of our fantastic performers – or Droll Tellers – will bring to life some well loved children’s books and traditional tales.

First up on the 6th of September is Laurence Pears telling ‘Not Now Bernard’ by David McKee, and ‘Winnie the Witch’ by Valerie Thomas.

Expect monsters, magic tricks, a loop pedal and more…

Laurence was acting in Cornwall from a young age and, at 15, appeared in Ladies in Lavender alongside Maggie Smith and Judi Dench.

Since then, he has performed nationally and internationally, and collaborated with Sir Alan Ayckbourn.

He co-founded Cornwall’s Jam First Theatre, creating family shows such as Elf..ish for Cornish audiences.

Each session will include 2-3 stories and games and/or arts & crafts activities to have a go at themed around the story.

These sessions will be relaxed and informal. Fun for children and young people and for their adults. Supporting literacy and oracy, with funding from Arts Council England, FEAST Cornwall, Fowey Lions Club and Cornwall Council.

Lift to accommodation. 3 wheelchair accessible bedrooms (1 x single, 1 x double, 1 x twin). 1 x full profiling bed and connecting door to ‘carer’s room’ if required. Mobile hoist for use anywhere in building (& off site by arrangement). Kitchen: wheelchair accessible sink, oven, counter top. Fully accessible wet room with Roommate audio-describer. Mobile hearing loop available on request. The Creation Works is wheelchair accessible on public paths from the train station.
