Course Information:
Each of the 5 workshops focuses on a different aspect of climate change from a regional, national and global perspective and uses Permaculture principles as a means to develop ecological, creative, and wellbeing responses to climate change.
In Contact with Trees: Deforestation and biodiversity loss in plant life. We will use grounding, storytelling, and oil based relief contact printmaking as a means to explore our relationship with trees.
In Contact with Water & Air: Pollution of air and water resources. We will use water based inks and sound to explore our relationship with water and air.
In Contact with Earth & Stone: Extractive practices (e.g. mining), regenerative versus industrial agriculture. We will us three sisters planting, sun printing and relief based contact printing to explore our relationship with earth, soil, and stone.
In Contact with Humans: The human cost of climate change e.g. climate refugees and addressing climate response. We will work with our bodies and eco-inks to create large collaborative prints.
In Contact with the More-Than-Human: Biodiversity loss and wildlife conservation. We will consider conservation practices and engage in more-than- human inspired somatic grounding practices, storytelling, and relief printing.
Each session includes:
outdoor activities to gather materials, ground, learn, reflect, and interact with the environment;
learning a new botanical printing technique using home-made botanical inks,
a group discussion about the climate crisis with resources to develop knowledge, wellbeing, resilience, adaptation, and agency
well-being exercises to help with climate anxiety, grief, and rage
All materials will be provided.
