About this event
Eco-engineering: Greening the Grey by Charley Clubley, University of Plymouth, & Max Morgan-Kay, ARC Marine
Coastal squeeze is the loss of habitat from the development of coastal man-made structures. These interfere with the natural processes of the coast and can negatively impact marine life and provide space for non-native and invasive species like the Pacific oysters we see in Looe. Commercial companies and researchers alike are working together to address these issues by “Greening the Grey” via eco-engineering solutions. In this talk, we will hear how companies like ARC Marine, who build and develop nature-inclusive design, work alongside researchers such as Charley Clubley to develop new ways of improving the habitat function and biodiversity of these typically barren coastal infrastructures. The talk will be followed by our monthly meeting to which all are welcome.
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. This is a FREE event but donations to Looe Marine Conservation Group are welcome. Please check our website (www.looemarineconservation.org) and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/LooeMCG) closer to the time of the event for the most up to date information. Any other queries please email [email protected].
