About this event
At Highgate Hill House School, we speak to many parents and carers whose children are struggling in a mainstream setting, and they are just starting out on their educational support journey. At this stage, most people are unsure of the process, often bursting with questions and queries, but don’t know where to go next or who to ask.
We’ve decided to do something about it!
We’re holding a series of free workshops for parents and carers of school aged children with additional needs to try and de-mystify the EHCP application process, where those that attend can speak to our members of staff in a friendly, informal way. As well as visiting speakers, we’ll cover:
* How an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) could benefit your child
* How to apply for one, how long it takes and what assessments are involved
* When an EHCP is not appropriate and what other support may be available
* How to challenge decisions about your child’s educational support
Attendees are welcome to speak to staff and ask any questions they may have.
The event is free to attend, but tickets must be booked in advance using the Eventbrite link.
