About this event
At the top of a Georgian mansion in the heart of Truro is my small but jam-packed studio, where amidst the sketches, curios and antique frames I make my miniatures and larger paintings. I specialise in miniatures of landscapes; I love pouring a sweeping vista into a frame the size of a playing card, and suggesting portals to tiny worlds by nestling them in deep frames.
But some subjects need more space (once even an entire wall’s worth!) and I also use pen and ink, oil on canvas and egg tempera to explore subjects. You’re very welcome to come in for a chat and a browse; I have finished paintings and prints for sale, and you can also have a first peek at paintings to come and works-in-progress.
Accessibility
Details
Unfortunately Princes House is not wheelchair accessible and has no accessible toilet: there are steps up to the front door, and no lift inside, and there are two flights of stairs to negotiate to reach my studio. Please be aware the original floorboards in the house can be uneven. If you're unable to use the stairs to my studio but would like to see a particular painting in person, please do contact me as we may be able to arrange a meeting in a local cafe to show you (especially if you'd like to see my miniatures, they're very easy to pop in my handbag!)
Directions
Princes House is at the south-east end of Boscawen Street, the main shopping street in Truro: pass the War Memorial and take the right-hand fork at Coinage Hall, and Princes House is the second mansion with porch steps. I’m on the 2nd floor.
