About this event
This sewing and embroidery workshop is a celebration of wild swimming, female companionship and self-expression through creating something out of nothing. Annie Lucas is the brains behind the ever-expanding sewing school Start To Stitch and has a background in costume design and bridalwear.
Annie was also responsible for the coordination of scrubs for NHS workers across the South West in 2020 and worked with Seasalt to make thousands of fabric facemasks during the pandemic.
The workshop has been programmed to coincide with the debut performance of Associate Artist Carleen Anderson’s aquatic opera MELIOR Opus Griot on stage at Hall for Cornwall.
Find out more about the work of Annie Lucas and Carleen Anderson.
All workshop participants will receive a free ticket to Carleen Anderson’s operatic opera on the same date.
All materials are provided for this workshop, and a choice of colours will be emailed to participants ahead of the day itself. It is recommended that participants have basic knowledge of using a sewing machine although full tuition will be given.
Other makers running workshops at Hall for Cornwall during our second workshop season between May – December 2022 include Life Drawing Lab, Wild Rose Cornwall, Soap Stack, Melanie Chadwick Illustration, Badger & Birch and Lucy Innes Williams.
Workshops are hosted in a friendly, inclusive and accessible location within Hall for Cornwall. Exact location on arrival. Over 18s only.
