About this event

Having grown up by the sea, Cass is deeply connected to the coast. Her current work captures what it feels like to be in the water at a specific moment.

Whether being engulfed by a wave or experiencing the still calm offshore, she is compelled to make images that resonate with her physical and emotional sensations of immersion, the pull of the current, the shifting light, and the quiet exhilaration of being held by the sea.

Sometimes, getting a sense of which way’s up, or what direction land is, takes a moment. The feeling of resurfacing and seeing the world through the water can be beautiful. The light and distortions are fleeting and dream-like. This body of work captures her personal perception of those split seconds.

Cass is passionate about printing. Whether it is a crafted digital print or an experimental alternate process, she is invested in creating something that is more than the sum of its parts.
